Streaming Broadcast of Graduate Seminar on Social Accountability

24.09.10

Dear colleagues in social accountability:

Since the last quarter of 2009, the ANSA EAP operations team has been engaging with the Association of Schools on Public Administration of the Philippines (ASPAP) to develop and integrate SAc courses in their members' curriculum.  ASPAP is a network of around 200 universities and colleges in the country offering undergraduate and graduate degrees in public administration/management.  After our initial orientation workshop last May 2010, selected ASPAP members have been piloting SAc modules as standalone special topic courses, component modules of existing public administration courses, short executive education courses, and graduate seminars/workshops.

On 25 September, the Western Mindanao State University (WMSU), an ASPAP member in Zamboanga City in southern Philippines, will be conducting a Graduate Seminar on Social Accountability with around 50 graduate (masters and doctoral) students of Public Administration and Education.  The graduate seminar aims to situate and introduce social accountability concepts and tools to the participants as integral components of the theory and practice of public administration, effective educational administration and decentralized public school management.  The activity will run from 0800-1630 (Philippine time).

We would like to invite you to this online learning event, which we hope will contribute to enriching our understanding of SAc.  ASPAP has arranged a live broadcast of the learning event via Ustream.  You can access the live feed of the seminar though this link:

You need to register (free) in Ustream TV to view the livestream.  Once logged in, search for ASPAP.  From the ASPAP page, you will be able to see the live video from the ASPAP-WMSU-ANSA EAP event in Zamboanga City.  It is advisable to use a computer with at least a Core2Duo processor and a strong internet bandwidth signal.  The online video record can also be downloaded later according to Ustream TV instructions that are similar to Youtube.

We will be contacting you in the coming days to explore the possibility of initiating similar efforts in your countries to integrate SAc courses in the programs of higher educational institutions.  We're attaching the seminar program for your reference.

For additional information, you can email Ms. Mia Aquino (aquinomia@yahoo.com).

Thank you.
