Public Performance Monitoring:
Regional Learning Event on Community Scorecard and Citizen Report Card 

ANSA-EAP, in collaboration with ANSA South Asia, conducted a Public Performance Monitoring: Regional Learning Event on Community Scorecard and Citizen Report Card on August 3-7, 2011 in Holiday Inn (Silom), Bangkok, Thailand.  The event is in line with the ANSA-EAP’s efforts to promote social accountability approaches and tools among citizen groups in the region

Piloting Participatory Audit in the Philippines:  Constructive Engagement between the CCAGG and COA

The Concerned Citizens of Abra for Good Government (CCAGG) and the Commission on Audit (COA) of the Philippines partnered in a program entitled, Enhancing the Public Accountability Program of the Philippines funded by the United Nations Development Fund (UNDP).

The program called for civil society organizations (CSO’s) to participate in the audit process to ensure its credibility and transparency.  The CCAGG participated in the audit of 32 projects engaging with other stakeholders in the course of  program.

Checkmyschool.org synchronized data validation

Checkmyschool.org kicks off the synchronized data validation of the Philippines’ Department of Education’s (DepEd) public school data on enrolment, personnel, textbooks, classrooms, classroom seats computers, national test results, toilet, and budget.  The results of the validation will be uploaded on the CMS website, where DepEd officials, as well as other citizens, can remotely access them.

Heralding the synchronized school data validation are a series of activities, which include:  (a) Fun Run at Araullo high school, Manila on 20 August; (b) Fun Run at Plaza Luz, Pagadian city on 20 August; (c) Kite Flying at Paseo del Mar, Zamboanga city on 9 August; (d) Merry-Making at Tacloban city convention center on 24 August; and (e) Lunch for a Cause at West Visayas State University Function Hall, Calinog, Iloilo on 24 August.

NLCGG Strengthens its Capacity to Monitor Local Government Budget -The Northern Luzon Coalition for Good Governance (NLCGG) in the Philippines conducted a Training Workshop on Participatory Budget Monitoring on June 28 to 29, 2011. A total of 25 participants representing 15 NLCGG member organizations participated in the two-day event, which focused on understanding the local government budget process and how it can be monitored by citizens.

ANSA-EAP mainstreams social accountability in CHED Twenty-three key executives of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), including middle- and senior-level managers from all over the Philippines, participated in the session on “Mainstreaming Social Accountability to the Commission on Higher Education” conducted at the CHED Building in Diliman, Quezon City on August 1, 2011.
