Jalton Garces Taguibao currently an Assistant Professor of Political Science at the Department of Political Science, University of the Philippines-Diliman. He completed his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of the Philippines-Diliman in 1998. Afterwards, he worked as a Teaching Associate from 1999-2002, taught and supervised  courses in the Asia Pacific Studies Program (APS) at the University of the Asia and the Pacific (UA&P) (2002-2004), and then joined the Department of Social Sciences (DSS) at the University of the Philippines-Manila, serving as a member of the faculty from 2005-2010).

He earned my Masters in Management (Public Management) from the University of the Philippines-Manila and is currently completing his PhD in Political Science completing my dissertation research which focuses on policy making and renewable energy development in the Philippines.

Apart from my work in the academe, he has been involved in the development sector, working on issues such as Freedom of Information and Open Contracting. He is a Research Manager at ANSA-EAP and also a Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) specialist for selected projects within the organization. Apart from his work in the development sector, he is a Lecturer and Consultant at the Development Academy of the Philippines (DAP).

Jal describes himself as a geek, a musician, and a foodie who, every now and then, experiments in the kitchen.
